LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AECOM Technology Corporation, a leading provider of professional technical and management support services for government and commercial clients around the world, announced the appointment of Vahid Ownjazayeri as group chief executive for its global transportation business. This role is in addition to Mr. Ownjazayeri’s position of executive vice president and chief strategy officer, Business Lines.
In this role, Ownjazayeri is responsible for the overall strategic direction, growth, and performance of AECOM’s global transportation business.

Prior to rejoining AECOM in August 2011, Ownjazayeri served as executive vice president of The Shaw Group’s Environmental & Infrastructure division as well as president of its Commercial, State and Local division.
Before joining Shaw, Ownjazayeri was AECOM senior vice president and U.S. national director, transportation. Before that, he served as AECOM’s northeast region manager and vice president of Marine, Intermodal and Freight.
With more than 28 years of experience in the development, design and management of complex transportation projects, Ownjazayeri has been a global leader in project development, specifically in the United States, Middle East, Canada and the Caribbean.
He has studied in the United States and abroad, holding a master’s degree in structural engineering and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Northeastern University in Boston. Ownjazayeri is a registered Professional Engineer in Massachusetts.
