CARTES & IDentification 2011

PARIS--()--Cinterion, the global leader in cellular M2M communication modules and a Gemalto company (Euronext NL 0000400653 GTO), together with its partners Inside M2M and MC Technologies (MCT), today announce they have surpassed the 100,000 milestone for Konica Minolta multifunctional office machines equipped with their joint M2M communications and remote monitoring and management solution. Cinterion’s award-winning JavaTM module provides secure wireless data communications and runs application software designed to manage the service and maintenance needs of enterprise-grade office machines anywhere in the world.

With this solution, Konica Minolta can remotely monitor printers, copiers, scanners and fax machines in the field and manage routine maintenance, facilitate remote diagnostics, track usage patterns and identify supply shortages or other issues before problems arise. The solution’s embedded Java client from Inside M2M collect machine data via an attached MCT terminal, and the Cinterion module securely communicates back and forth over wireless networks to a dedicated backend server provided by Inside M2M. System administrators can log on from any computer, smartphone or connected device to receive updates or be prompted for attention when needed. If breakdowns occur, an alert identifying the exact problem and history is automatically sent via email, SMS or to the web portal allowing service managers to facilitate repairs in a timely manner.

“Konica Minolta’s powerful remote care concept maximizes uptime, optimizes workloads and provides clear cost savings for our customers,” explained Frank Ziemer, Team Manager, Optimized Print Services Support at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe. “Cooperation with our valued partners was essential to successfully connecting more than 100,000 devices.”

“We chose Cinterion as our communication technology partner for its well respected M2M and security expertise as well as its engineering support in local markets around the world,” said Derek Uhlig, CEO of Inside M2M. “Cinterion’s Java module is crucial for simultaneous software hosting and secure communications, allowing cost efficiencies by eliminating the need for additional processors and complexity.”

“We were pleased to meet the challenges of this large, worldwide implementation,” said Norbert Muhrer, CEO of Cinterion. “Our collaboration demonstrates Cinterion’s value as a trusted partner, with the global expertise necessary to support swift implementation timelines, and superior ROI for integrators and their end-user customers.”
