SOMERSET, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--New Jersey Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno and over 200 SHI International employees, architects, and construction contractors were on hand today to officially cut the ribbon on a new 420,000 Sq. Ft. Cloud Computing Campus and global headquarters for one of New Jersey’s largest technology businesses. The new cloud data center and headquarters of SHI International officially opens today to serve clients around the globe with the latest, state-of-the-art cloud computing technology. SHI International, a $3.5 billion woman-owned technology company, which supports the world’s most complex IT organizations, transformed the former AT&T facility into an industrial-grade cloud computing hub to offer advanced security and infrastructure for companies with large, enterprise IT needs.
“SHI’s new Cloud Computing Campus and headquarters makes a big statement about New Jersey, its technology leadership, and quality of employees,” says Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno. “Under the leadership of Thai Lee, SHI has grown from a $1 million company into an international player in IT products and solutions, and now aims to transform cloud computing with a world-class facility and service based here in New Jersey.”
Over the past two years, SHI International has grown an astounding 25 percent and 30 percent, respectively. The new Somerset location, which employs nearly 1,000 workers, is part of a strategic investment by SHI to capitalize on the fast-growing cloud computing industry, which is projected to reach $9.4 billion by 2015, according to industry analyst International Data Corp.
“Cloud computing holds vast implications for just about every sector of the American economy,” says Thai Lee, SHI President and CEO, who was recently recognized as one of the most powerful women of the IT channel CRN Magazine. “The issue facing many enterprises is finding providers that can offer next-generation cloud computing that promises fail-safe continuity, security, and infrastructure to support mission critical applications. Our new facility offers industrial-grade cloud computing, the most robust and secure solution available.”
For instance, SHI International recently partnered with HP to help Internet 2, an advanced networking consortium led by the research and education community, to bring high availability cloud computing to universities and academic research organizations.
“SHI International is a classic New Jersey success story that we are extremely proud of here in the Garden State,” says the Lieutenant Governor. “With more than $3.5 billion in annual sales and 1,750 employees worldwide, SHI stands as a shining example of what can happen when the energy, vision, and skill of New Jersey workers are unleashed worldwide. We congratulate SHI on its new cloud computing campus, the continued success, and the economic vitality the company continues to contribute to our State.”
