WHAT: | As part of the Intel Global Challenge at UC Berkeley, 29 teams of select student entrepreneurs from around the world will descend on Silicon Valley to present their innovative business plans that have the potential to positively impact society. | |
The Intel Global Challenge, formerly called the Intel®+UC Berkeley Technology Entrepreneurship Challenge, is where the world’s future leaders present their plans for solving some of the most pressing issues through technological innovations and entrepreneurial skills. The Intel Global Challenge is a joint project of Intel Corporation and the Lester Center for Entrepreneurship at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. | ||
As part of this competition, the Intel Foundation will award a total of $100,000 in cash prizes. The grand prize winner will receive $50,000 and the second- and third-place teams will receive $20,000 and $10,000, respectively. In addition, four $5,000 awards will be given to winners in the following categories: People's Choice, Social Innovation, Emerging Market and Young Innovator. | ||

All 29 Intel Global Challenge finalist teams will display their projects during a poster session. This will be an opportunity for media to interact with each of the teams one-on-one and better understand why each team was selected for their groundbreaking research. | ||
