Families with Vaccine Injuries Speak Out During Vaccine Awareness Week, Co-sponsored by National Vaccine Information Center and Mercola.com

VIENNA, Va.--()--During the Second Annual Vaccine Awareness Week (Oct. 30-Nov. 5, 2011), the non-profit National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC) and Dr. Joseph Mercola, founder of the Mercola.com health website, are bringing forward real-life stories of the vaccine injured and their families in articles and videos. The goal is to raise public awareness about the need for those operating the mass vaccination system in the U.S. to make vaccine safety and informed consent protections a much higher priority.

Two vaccine injury video profiles, which contain interviews conducted by NVIC co-founder and president, Barbara Loe Fisher, in the homes of a family in Connecticut and another in Houston, include in-depth discussions about the concerns that many Americans face today when making vaccination decisions. A former professor of nursing, paralyzed by Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS) after a flu shot, and a young family with a history of three generations of vaccine reactions raising a pertussis vaccine injured daughter, talk about day-to-day life when coping with vaccine injuries.

During the week, Mercola.com is offering an exclusive free, online viewing of the award winning new documentary THE GREATER GOOD, which premiered last month in Los Angeles. The film that reviewers have called “staggering,” and “provocative” and ”an eye-opener” will premiere at the New York Documentary Festival this week and be screened later in the month at the International Film Center in New York City.

The groundbreaking film produced by Leslie Manookian and veteran filmmakers Chris Pilaro and Kendall Nelson examines the multi-faceted vaccine debate in America. It includes stories of three families, whose children were injured or died from vaccine reactions, and interviews with pediatricians, scientists, consumer advocates and spokespersons for the vaccine manufacturers and federal health agencies.

View THE GREATER GOOD (through Nov. 5 only) here. DVD copies of the film are available for $10 for a limited time until supplies run out.

Also during the month of November, the National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC) will have a 3-minute video on flu prevention included as part of in-flight programming called "Lifestyle365" aboard Delta Air Lines. The video features NVIC co-founder and president Barbara Loe Fisher urging viewers to become informed about influenza and how to stay well during the flu season.
