SOLNA, Sweden--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Regulatory News:
NCC (STO:NCCA)(STO:NCCB):
NCC Construction Sweden has been commissioned to construct teaching and research premises adjacent to Örebro University Hospital. The premises will be used for Örebro University’s medical training and Örebro University Hospital’s research department. The project will be conducted on a partnering basis with Örebro County Council. The order is valued at about SEK 250 million and will be registered in the fourth quarter of 2011.
Örebro University was granted permission to conduct medical education in spring 2010 and now requires larger premises for its medical students. The first students began during spring 2011.
It is estimated that the existing premises offer sufficient space for about six terms but when the new premises are completed, the activities will be relocated there. The research departments at both Örebro University and Örebro University Hospital will also be housed in the new premises.
The premises comprise an area of 11,600 square meters divided among three floors and a basement. They will house a library, lecture rooms, offices, a restaurant, teaching space and laboratories. The project is scheduled for completion in September 2013 and the first students are expected in the new premises in the spring term of 2014.
The project will be implemented in the form of a collaboration contract, termed partnering by NCC. Partnering is a structured form of cooperation whereby developers, consultants and contractors jointly resolve construction assignments. The methods are based on transparent and honest cooperation allowing various areas of expertise to complement each other throughout the construction process.
About 50 people will be employed in the project.
