NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HealthiNation, the premier media company that produces and syndicates original, premium health and lifestyle video, today announced a slate of new programming in recognition of Diabetes Awareness Month in November. Programming will be available across HealthiNation’s platforms including online, digital cable television and connected TV.
The programming kicks off with a new story in HealthiNation’s award-winning series, True Champions focused on diabetes. The True Champions series features dynamic individuals who are either living with or caring for people who have various chronic conditions. These individuals are true champions because they do not define themselves or their loved ones by their disease. Instead, they are reaching out to help others who are battling similar conditions. HealthiNation’s true champions inspire and educate others by sharing their personal experiences and successful coping strategies, as well as by actively participating in awareness-building activities.
In True Champions: Diabetes, HealthiNation profiles Manny Hernandez, a person who is both living with diabetes and advocating for diabetes awareness. He is the founder of the Diabetes Hands Foundation as well as the online social communities tudiabetes.org and the Spanish language community, estudiabetes.org. The series includes four episodes, each 3-5 minutes in length.
“As a condition affecting nearly 26 million children and adults in the U.S. and 346 million people worldwide*, diabetes touches us all in some way,” said Dr. Holly Atkinson, Chief Medical Officer, HealthiNation. “It is quite often difficult for individuals to deal with the diagnosis of diabetes. Many feel that they are struggling alone, but hearing the stories of others through video and knowing there is a community of people with a similar diagnosis can be a powerful support tool.”
In addition to the debut of True Champions: Diabetes, HealthiNation will roll out four new programs online each week during the month of November that focus on different aspects of living with diabetes. Each program runs approximately 3-5 minutes in length:
- Diabetes and Travel: If you’re living with diabetes, then you know that being on the road can be especially challenging. In this video, you’ll see that with some important information and a little organization, you won’t have to clip your wings.
- Diabetes and Vegetarianism: A vegetarian diet and effective diabetes management seems like a perfect pairing but it can be more complicated. In this video, we’ll weed out the guesswork from the proven facts.
- Diabetes and Celebrations: Holidays, birthdays and other festive gatherings are meant to be celebrations, but they can also be a real challenge if you’re trying to keep your diabetes in check. This program shares some smart strategies to help you enjoy celebrations all year long.
- Diabetes and Alcohol: Having diabetes doesn’t mean you have to stop enjoying life—which for many includes an occasional drink. In this video, you’ll learn how to enjoy an alcoholic drink now and then while keeping your diabetes under control.
All of the new programming complements HealthiNation’s core educational programs, which discuss in more detail what diabetes is, how to manage it and ways it can be controlled with everyday foods. To watch the new series, click here: www.healthination.com/true-champions/diabetes
