KANSAS CITY, Mo. & FAIRBANKS, Alaska--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Newport Television, LLC (“Newport”) today announced that it has signed an agreement to sell KTVF-TV, Channel 11 (DTV RF Channel 26), an NBC affiliated television station licensed to Fairbanks, AK, to Chena Broadcasting LLC (“Chena”).
Newport Television, LLC is a television broadcasting company that owns or operates 59 television stations, including 28 stations distributed as digital multicast stations, in 21 markets across the United States. Newport’s owned or operated stations are affiliated with the FOX, NBC, ABC, CBS, CW and other networks.
Chena is a Fairbanks-based company headed by Michael Young, a lifelong resident of Fairbanks. He was elected to the Borough Assembly when Hank Hove, the former President of KTVF, was elected as Borough Mayor. He expects to continue with KTVF’s great programming and spectacular local news team. KTVF has always led the interior in news and Chena intends to continue in that same great tradition.
The transaction, which is subject to approval by the Federal Communications Commission, is expected to close within 90 days. Kalil & Co., Inc. represented Newport for this transaction and John Tupper of Kepper, Tupper and Company represented Chena.
