Top five Windows Phone apps selected

SEATTLE--()--AppStoreHQ, the leading independent source for mobile app recommendations and search, announced today that it now covers the Windows Phone application ecosystem. The rapid growth of Windows Phone’s Marketplace to approximately 30,000 apps in under a year is evidence of the appeal that the Windows Phone platform has for app developers.

AppStoreHQ helps users find the high-quality, personally relevant apps they need to make the most of their smartphones. “Our patent-pending AppRank technology tracks and analyzes more than 750,000 apps available across the Android, iOS, and Windows Phone platforms,” said Scott Blanksteen, CEO, AppStoreHQ. “AppStoreHQ is here to help users find the greatest apps from the best developers.”

AppStoreHQ will highlight unique features of Windows Phone apps, such as Xbox Live integration, and will allow developers to upload a video clip that describes their app. AppStoreHQ users will be able to download apps via Microsoft Tags displayed for each Windows Phone app.

“Windows Phone is backed by a rich and growing developer ecosystem that is creating a variety of quality apps and games that take advantage of the phone’s unique features and design,” said Todd Brix, senior director, Windows Phone Marketplace, Microsoft Corp. “With its personalized app recommendations, AppStoreHQ is a great example of the tools available to help developers market their apps to ensure that users are able to that help them get the most out of their Windows Phone experience,” he continued.

With the launch of AppStoreHQ’s support for Windows Phone, we have selected five Windows Phone apps that will be featured on the home page of AppStoreHQ. These apps are: Cube Companion, Peregrine, Camera Studio+, Bouncy Mouse, and Snake. The developers of each of these apps will receive a Windows Phone device, generously provided by Microsoft.

For app developers, this news means that AppStoreHQ’s contextual, search-based ads will also be available to promote Windows Phone apps. These contextual ads are an effective channel for developers to promote their apps to an engaged audience of early adopters.
