Stonesoft IPS Demonstrates High Performance in ICSA Labs Testing Report for Network Security Devices

StoneGate IPS-1205 IPS Device Performs Strongly in Two Vulnerability Tests

ATLANTA--()--Network security provider Stonesoft today announced that its StoneGate IPS device has performed well in a network intrusion prevention systems (IPS) test conducted by ICSA Labs, an independent division of Verizon. Stonesoft is one of the first vendors to participate in ICSA Labs’ new quarterly testing program for network IPS devices. The testing is designed to help organizations better protect their networks from malicious activity.

In ICSA Labs’ new testing report, network IPS devices were tested from the industry’s top vendors against vulnerabilities less than three months old. In both preliminary and final tests, Stonesoft’s StoneGate IPS-1205 was highly effective in protecting from attacks. It was tested against a set of recently discovered, high-severity, remotely-exploitable vulnerabilities.

In ICSA Labs’ initial test, products scored an effectiveness rating of between 59.4 percent and 78.1 percent. After being allowed to modify their products to better protect against current security threats, final tests showed an effectiveness rating of between 81.3 percent and 90.6 percent. Stonesoft’s StoneGate IPS-1205 performed at the highest end of the range for both tests with a 78.1 rating for the initial test and a 90.6 rating for the final test.

“We are committed to delivering the most powerful IPS solution on the market,” said Matt McKinley, U.S. director of product management, Stonesoft. “Our research and development is unconventional, yet proven. We will continue to improve the performance of the StoneGate IPS as well as proactively uncover the threats and vulnerabilities that affect the network security space.”
