Project On Government Oversight Honored at Sixth Annual Convio Client Summit

Project On Government Oversight Recipient of Innovator Award in Best Overall Use of Convio Category

BALTIMORE--()--Convio, Inc. (NASDAQ: CNVO) today presented the Project On Government Oversight (POGO), a nonpartisan independent watchdog that champions good government reforms, with an Innovator Award in the Best Overall Use of Convio category for their sophisticated use of Convio Luminate™ Online, Convio Luminate™ CRM, and Convio CMS, and complementing it with social media tools and staff creativity to reach more of the general public. All award winners will be recognized at an event tonight at Convio’s Client Summit, the company’s annual user conference where more than 1,000 nonprofit clients, partners and industry thought leaders gather as a community to share common experiences and effective strategies for nonprofits.

“We left last year’s Convio Summit inspired by the successes of other organizations,” said Pam Rutter, web manager at POGO. “It is wonderful to look back at where we were 12 months ago, and see that our efforts are paying off. By pushing ourselves over the past year, we have doubled our numbers in some areas. Without Convio, we wouldn’t be as far along in advancing the message of our organization. Convio is about more than just software. It is about learning and implementing best practices that are proven, and testing new methods to advance our mission.”

POGO faced a myriad of challenges, which spanned a website that was dated and not as graphically driven, 800-pages of previously unreleased documents from the SEC, a shrinking housefile, and thousands of individuals who needed to be engaged and nurtured more effectively and strategically. The organization took a methodical approach to tackling each of these issues.

POGO partnered with Convio to refresh its homepage design, leveraged the Convio Facebook API so users can donate or sign-up for emails without leaving Facebook, and used Convio Luminate™ CRM to consolidate all constituent information. To expand its housefile, POGO launched a multi-pronged list building strategy that integrated social media. With a view toward nurturing new constituents, POGO created a custom welcome series that helped to keep newcomers engaged. The team also collaborated with Firefly Partners to create the SEC Revolving Door database using Convio CMS.

“POGO is so deserving of this award,” explained Jen Maceyko, project manager at Firefly Partners. “It was a pleasure to work with them on the creation of the SEC Revolving Door database, and bring their vision to life. The team at POGO is always looking for ways to use the Convio tools to present vast amounts of important information in a publically usable form. We are proud to provide the support they need to realize their vision.”

Six other nonprofits received Innovator Awards in categories including Best Integrated/Multi-channel Campaign, Best Online Campaign, Best CRM Visionary/Use of Common Ground, Best Peer-to-Peer Campaign, Best Team Event, and Best Use of New Media. All Convio clients were eligible to submit for the awards.

"The seven clients recognized this year epitomize innovation and are shining examples of true constituent engagement and how to maximize the value of every interaction they have with their supporters,” said Gene Austin, chief executive officer and president of Convio. “As the shift continues from traditional forms of engagement to a combination of traditional, digital and social channels, these organizations are on the front lines responding daily to the changing needs of donors, advocates, volunteers and anyone helping to advance their mission. We are proud to recognize their achievements and honored to support them in their continued success.”
