WARSTEIN-BELECKE, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AEG Power Solutions today announced receipt of the BDEW-unit certificate (German Association of Energy and Water Industries) for its central inverters Protect PV.250 and Protect PV.500. The “Generating Plants Connected to the Medium-Voltage Network” guideline published in 2008 sets out items that must be considered when connecting solar inverters to the medium-voltage network. From October 2011, power generators in Germany must hold a unit certificate proving that new grid-connected solar inverters entering operation comply with this guideline ensuring safe investments to customers.
In response to the rapid development of decentralized power generation structures, the BDEW has produced guidelines for maintaining the safety and reliability of grid operation.
The Protect PV.250 and Protect PV.500 central inverters from AEG Power Solutions now hold this unit certificate, proving that they satisfy these requirements. Examples of key points in this guideline include inverters not just remaining connected to the grid in the event of errors but also dynamically supporting it. During normal operation, the inverters must also assist in maintaining voltage levels in the medium-voltage network.
“Receiving the certificate underlines the capability of the AEG PS solar inverters PV.250 and PV.500, especially in terms of the system services required. Our customers can view this as proof of a safe investment and assistance in developing greater grid integration as we move towards decentralized supply structures,” says Eckhard Wolf, Business Director Central Inverter & BOS.
The PV.250 and PV.500 central inverters from AEG Power Solutions offer professional industrial solutions for use in PV units on large roofs and open spaces. As of today approx. 250 MW are installed in the field using PV.250 and PV.500
