PISCATAWAY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--IEEE, the world's largest professional association advancing technology for humanity, today announced the launch of its newly redesigned Smart Grid Web Portal, which has served as an essential destination for Smart Grid-related information since its initial debut in January 2010. Also available on the Portal at this time is the September edition of the IEEE Smart Grid Newsletter, a popular publication that features educational articles by IEEE Smart Grid innovators, architects and implementers from around the world.
“This month, the concise and information-packed articles on the self-healing grid, residential power trading and novel uses for bulk power techniques continue to deliver on the newsletter's key role as a trusted source of information on the Smart Grid,” said Massoud Amin, an IEEE senior member and chairman of the IEEE Smart Grid Newsletter. “The continued positive reception, increased popularity and enthusiasm for the IEEE Smart Grid Newsletter, now in its ninth monthly issue, reinforces our starting belief that the industry was eager for, not just news, but educational and insightful information from Smart Grid industry experts that make up the IEEE membership.”
Benefitting from an even more sophisticated new search capability, the newly redesigned IEEE Smart Grid Web Portal enables visitors to quickly and efficiently search the vast collection of Smart Grid-related standards, technical papers, events, updates on industry developments, and expert profiles accessible online.
In the coming months, visitors to the IEEE Smart Grid Web Portal will find new video interviews with IEEE experts providing forward-looking commentary on the Smart Grid revolution, consumer issues and concerns, developments in electric vehicles and energy storage technologies, as well as the latest innovations in distribution systems, and other important topics.
“IEEE is a unifying force and a catalyst for innovation that brings together the best and brightest minds,” said Wanda Reder, chair, IEEE Smart Grid Task Force. “Smart Grid is a global movement that will benefit from cooperative efforts and standards sharing across organizations and nations. As a leading authority in the Smart Grid space, IEEE is committed to providing the international Smart Grid community with the highest quality educational resources and information it needs to take Smart Grid from concept to reality.”
The IEEE Smart Grid Web Portal, for example, provides access to the IEEE Xplore® Digital Library, one of the world’s largest collections of high quality technical literature in engineering and technology. Of its three million documents—the majority of which are peer-reviewed, more than one million cover power-related topics. The three millionth IEEE Xplore article, “Protecting Smart Grid Automation Systems Against Cyber Attacks," was from IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid. IEEE will make this article publicly available through an open access designation in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library for a period of three months.
