ASMP Announces Plans for dpBestflow

AIPP Makes Financial Contribution, Krogh is New Director

PHILADELPHIA--()--The American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) has announced that the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP), Australia's leading membership body for the photography community, has made a financial contribution to its dpBestflow® project. It was also announced that Peter Krogh, who has served as Project Manager and a principal author of dpBestflow, will become Director of the project.

ASMP, in cooperation with the Library of Congress, launched dpBestflow, shorthand for “Digital Photography Best Practices and Workflow,” in 2009. dpBestflow, which has been lauded in the visual arts community nationally and internationally, offers definitive new guidelines for digital photography best practices which streamline and improve the process, production and preservation of digital photography. In addition to the website, dpbestflow.org, the dpBestflow initiative encompasses educational seminars and two books, “Digital Photography Best Practices and Workflow Handbook” (Anderson/Russotti, Focal Press 2009) and “The DAM Book” (Krogh, O’Reilly Media, 2009).

Robert Edwards, AIPP National President said, "The AIPP is proud to support the ASMP dpBestflow initiative. The past decade has seen more change in photography than any other time in the history of the profession. The dpBestflow content continues to grow and evolve as the profession of photography moves in new directions."

According to ASMP President Jim Cavanaugh, "ASMP is pleased to have the support of AIPP as we move forward with plans for dpBestflow. We also thank Richard Anderson, past Director of the project, for his leadership, which was instrumental in dpBestflow's becoming the significant resource it is today."

Peter Krogh, new Director of dpBestflow, added, "AIPP is an important industry leader, and I’m very grateful for their support. We’re hard at work enhancing the dpBestflow website, adding content about motion imaging, and updating the site for newly released software. I look forward to continuing the important work of this project to insure its value and relevance to the visual arts community." New web site content will be available later this Fall.

ASMP is the premier trade association for photographers, providing members with all the tools, information and support needed to run successful photography businesses. Over 7,000 strong with 39 chapters throughout the country, ASMP members are recognized as a community of forward-thinking professionals.

Founded in 1963, the AIPP is a not-for-profit organization run voluntarily for and by professional photographers and industry representatives who seek to set a standard of excellence within the photographic industry.
