DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CompuCom Systems, Inc., the leading IT outsourcing specialist, has made this year’s InformationWeek 500, an annual listing of the nation’s most innovative users of business technology. This is the seventh consecutive year for CompuCom to be included in the prestigious group.
“InformationWeek recognized CompuCom for our innovative approach to delivering an 18-month technology refresh project across 4,000 locations for a leading bank,” stated CompuCom Chief Information Officer John Douglas. “It was imperative that we work quickly without inconvenience to customers and without interrupting financial transactions, and that we maintain the utmost care in protecting sensitive personal information.”
CompuCom needed to collect about 2,000 pieces of data for each location in one site visit and intelligently roll up the data from all the sites to feed a complete project plan. The company developed on online tool using Microsoft InfoPath 2007, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) Form Library, and Microsoft BizTalk to collect and map the data. More than 400 business rules checked the information and orchestrated processes. The decision engine applied the business rules to determine the equipment to be ordered and transformed the survey data to create a site equipment list, scope of work report, work area report, site definition request report, decommissioning report, and purchase order.
“For 23 years, the InformationWeek 500 has chronicled and honored the most innovative users of business technology,” said InformationWeek Editor In Chief Rob Preston. “In this day and age, however, being innovative isn’t enough. Companies and their IT organizations need to innovate faster than ever before to stay a step or two ahead of their customers, partners, and competitors. This year’s ranking placed special emphasis on those high-octane business technology innovators.”
InformationWeek identifies and honors the nation's most innovative users of information technology with its annual 500 listing and also tracks the technology, strategies, investments and administrative practices of America’s best-known companies. Top winners have included The Allstate Corp., Aramark Corp., Baker Hughes Inc., Booz Allen Hamilton Inc., Chiquita Brands International Inc., and Walgreen Co. The InformationWeek 500 rankings are unique among corporate rankings as it spotlights the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.
