YOQNE’AM, Israel--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Wavion™, a global leader in Wi-Fi solutions for service providers, governments and enterprises, and Minisoft, a local system integrator in Romania, announced today the deployment of Wavion’s Wi-Fi base stations for high speed internet service at the city of Mangalia and a strip of Black Sea coast.
The wide-area deployment is based on Wavion’s high performance two-way Beamforming outdoor Wi-Fi base stations, and covers the entire city of Mangalia, including its port, as well as a strip of 14 km Black Sea beaches south of Mangalia - Saturn, Venus, Jupiter, Neptune and Olympus. The coverage includes major public places in Mangalia such as large park areas, the house of culture, the municipal stadium and the main railway station.
The Wi-Fi network enables people on-the-go with smartphones, tablets and netbooks to connect to the Internet at speeds of 500Kbps to 1Mbps and enjoy applications such as video, image transfer, social networking and internet browsing. The network is further used for municipal building connectivity and is also planned for public safety and outdoor workers.
“We have selected Wavion for the Wi-Fi deployment due to the unmatched coverage, capacity and quality of service their base stations provide,” said Mr. Mihai Claudiu Tusac, the Mayor of Mangalia. “We are very pleased with our choice since it enabled us to easily cover both the city and the Black Sea strip, and provide the needed capacity in this challenging outdoor environment.”
Wavion’s unique and powerful base stations, with their spatially adaptive two-way Beamforming and powerful interference immunity suite, provide extended coverage and higher throughput in outdoor environments, excelling in NLOS (non line of sight) conditions and heavy interference.
“Wavion is proud to be selected by the city of Mangalia for its challenging city-wide project,” said Zeev Farkash, Wavion's EVP of sales. “It is yet another proof of the added value of our unique and powerful Beamforming technology to city-wide deployments, where it is required to simultaneously support a large number of handheld devices.”
