AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BigLever Software™, the leading provider of systems and software product line engineering framework, tools and services, announced today that Dr. Charles Krueger, the company's Founder and CEO, will co-present two product line engineering (PLE) sessions with Bill Bolander, General Motors Technical Fellow, as part of IBM Rational’s Systems and Software Symposium events to be held on September 15th at the Smithsonian Institute Air & Space Museum and October 19th at the University of Michigan.
The IBM Rational Systems and Software Symposium Series features the latest innovations in product and systems development. These events will explore systems engineering best practices, with a focus on integrated product management, systems and software development, and product line engineering across the lifecycle including requirements management, architecture and design, change and configuration management, testing and quality management.
At the Smithsonian event, Dr. Charles Krueger and Bill Bolander will offer pragmatic insights into PLE challenges and strategic benefits, plus first-hand experiences from General Motors’ ongoing PLE deployment based on BigLever Software’s PLE solution. This session, entitled Feature-Based Product Line Engineering Across the Lifecycle at General Motors, will explore how the company is leveraging PLE to engineer and automatically assemble systems and software assets for different vehicle configurations from a high-level bill-of-features, rather than manual assembly of a low-level bill-of-materials.
Dr. Krueger will again join Bill Bolander, as well as Greg Gorman, IBM Rational Program Director, at the University of Michigan to present the Product Line Engineering Executive Roundtable. This special invitation-only event, to be held in conjunction with the main IBM Rational Symposium, will address industry challenges associated with the convergence of application lifecycle management, product lifecycle management and product line engineering. The roundtable discussion will include new generation PLE tools and methods, spotlighting General Motors’ deployment of a feature-based PLE solution using BigLever’s 3-Tiered Methodology, Gears PLE Lifecycle Framework, and integrations for the IBM Rational toolset.
Both of these co-presented sessions will also provide insight into successful PLE deployments across a variety of industry sectors, such as Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics in aerospace & defense, NetApp (formerly LSI Logic) in computer storage, HomeAway in e-commerce, and Ikerlan/Alstom in alternative energy.
