WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Disabled Veterans National Foundation (DVNF) announced the August 19th delivery of $110,277 in goods and services to the New England Center for Homeless Veterans in Boston, Massachusetts. The goods and services- including new tiles for the shelter- are aimed at helping to improve the delivery of needed help to area veterans. The New England Center for Homeless Veterans was founded in 1990 and offers a residential program as well as several programs to help veterans address challenges such as addiction, trauma, severe and persistent mental illness and unemployment.
“The New England Center for Homeless Veterans has been recognized nationally for helping veterans in many ways, including providing nearly sixty project-based single room permanent units housed at their shelter in Boston,” said Precilla Wilkewitz, President of the DVNF. “They are recognized as having one of the most effective private veteran’s transition programs in the country and we are honored to be helping them deliver even more.”
In addition to tiles to renovate part of the shelter, the DVNF delivered food, cleaning supplies and blankets.
“The fact is too many veterans wind up unemployed, hurting and homeless due to a variety of challenges facing them after they serve, so even supplies like blankets and cleaning products make a big difference in their everyday lives,” said Wilkewitz. “The New England Center for Homeless Veterans plays a big role providing both a home and safe place for veterans to go to get the needed help they are not getting from other sources.”
