STOCKHOLM, Sweden--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Regulatory News:
HiQ (STO:HIQ) has been working with Volvo Cars for several years. The strategic partnership agreement in the area of “Active Safety” will strengthen the collaboration between HiQ and Volvo Cars.
“We are seeing an increase in demand for active safety system development. Bearing in mind the goal of minimising the number of fatal accidents on the roads, this is of course a very important function in new vehicle models. It feels good and it’s inspiring to work on systems that will actually make a difference for many people in the future,” says Patrik Sahlsten, Deputy Managing Director of HiQ Göteborg.
The new agreement further strengthens HiQ’s role in the sector and in the automotive industry.
“We are working across a broad front in the automotive industry because most areas within this industry are becoming increasingly dependent on IT. Active safety is an important field for us because it saves lives and simplifies driving for the driver. Due to our strong position, we are now recruiting many more employees,” says Lars Stugemo, CEO at HiQ.
Active safety encompasses technology and systems that are developed to prevent and avoid automotive accidents on the roads. Active safety systems are designed to make driving easier and to provide safeguards with the ultimate aim of making accidents entirely preventable. When an accident is unavoidable, the systems aim to reduce the impact of the collision. Today it is not unusual for cars to be equipped with various sensors, microprocessors and steering systems that help drivers detect potential hazards and make it easier to handle the vehicle. Examples of the technology on the market today include night vision displays, adaptive cruise control, advanced anti-skid systems and cameras that allow drivers to see inside the “blind spot.”
