CSC Signs Managed Services Agreement with Ingalls Shipbuilding

FALLS CHURCH, Va.--()--CSC (NYSE: CSC) announced today that it has signed a five-year contract to provide information technology (IT) infrastructure managed services to Ingalls Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE:HII). Ingalls expects to be able to attain improved access to resources and technologies and leverage CSC’s expertise to improve the delivery of the services that are in scope.

Under the terms of the contract, CSC will manage Ingalls Shipbuilding IT infrastructure services including data center operations, end user computing, service desk services, external partner management, information security, mobile technology services, networking, platform engineering, and telephony services. The environment will be updated and consolidated to enhance the quality of service, deliver new solutions and reduce ongoing costs.

Russ Owen, president of CSC Managed Services Sector noted, “CSC envisions an enduring relationship with Ingalls Shipbuilding. We will leverage the assets of our company to achieve our mutual vision of cost-effective, modern IT systems management, operation, and transformation for Ingalls Shipbuilding.”

“In evaluating the options for the stand-up of an independent IT environment in support of Ingalls Shipbuilding, outsourcing to an industry leader like CSC makes a lot of sense,” said Jan Rideout, chief information officer, Ingalls Shipbuilding. “In addition to their vast experience in data centers, networking, and help desk services, we chose CSC for their extensive expertise in information security and their familiarity with shipyard IT environments.”

“This decision accomplishes three major objectives,” Rideout continued. “First, accessing world class IT services, including leading edge security protection. Second, continuing to reduce our shipbuilding infrastructure cost. And third, avoiding the cost and risk associated with building these capabilities organically. Ultimately, we want to deliver more affordable ships to our Navy and Coast Guard customers. We look forward to a smooth transition and a lasting partnership with CSC."
