TAIPEI, Taiwan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), Taiwan’s foremost nonprofit trade and investment promotion organization, is leading a delegation of Taiwanese enterprises to participate in the much-awaited bicycle trade show this year in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
EUROBIKE 2011, a must for professionals from the cycling industry to take part in, will be held from August 31st to September 3rd. More than 1,100 exhibitors from 42 nations will occupy 14 halls to present a complete range of bicycle products. All of the world’s leading manufacturers will also be on hand to offer a comprehensive range of bikes, as well as cycling accessories and outfits.
The TAITRA-led group comprising 16 dynamic enterprises of bicycles and parts will be exhibiting a diverse range of quality products and their latest innovations at the Taiwan Pavilion in Hall A5-507. Among the latest innovations to be on display include Electric Bicycle Power Kit, E-bikes, folding bikes, MTB, ATB, sports eyewear, helmets, pedals, streamers, handlebars, grips, disc brake pads, clothes, pumps and many more. Full of innovative concepts mixed with contemporary styles, visitors will surely find a lot of fresh new ideas at the fair.
For years, Taiwan’s bicycle producers have been focusing on developing new material and fabrication technologies. Deviating from the path of high-volume, low-cost production, Taiwan pursued the development of high-tech and value-added products. Today, its pricy, high-end bicycles have bolstered gains despite growing competition from Mainland China’s.
The Taiwan bicycle industry has consistently demonstrated innovation since its entry into the foreign market. Apart from conventional road bicycles, Taiwan also has successfully launched various new designs such as off-road bicycles, touring bicycles and folding bicycles. Given the growing number of cyclists and people’s growing environmental awareness, Taiwanese bicycle producers are now emphasizing the 4 “N”, i.e., new material, new functions, new destination and new taste. Such bicycle models are designed not only for comfort and fashion but also for price-performance ratio, safety, lightness, etc.
Meanwhile, the Taiwan bicycle industry can benefit by integrating into its production the strengths of ICT, which is one of the strongest sectors in Taiwan. Take for example the electric-powered bicycles, these units feature concepts on energy-savings, environmental awareness and ease of use, which can create new opportunities for the Taiwan bicycle industry. Actually, several chip and system integration companies have already entered the fray to provide power management chips for controller MOSFET transistors, microcontroller ICs for motor control units, adaptors and rechargeable battery technologies. The resulting synergy is expected to provide a “one-stop-shopping” competitive edge to Taiwan’s bicycle manufacturing.
