Ouachita County Medical Center Chooses Full Suite of HMS Clinical and Financial Applications

Hospital leverages HMS to further enhance clinical workflow, patient care and house-wide efficiency

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--()--Ouachita County Medical Center has selected Healthcare Management Systems Inc.® (HMS) to provide its full suite of financial and clinical applications, including its HMS Emergency Department Information System (EDIS). The hospital will leverage HMS applications, resources and experience in the community healthcare market to further streamline hospital workflow and achieve meaningful use.

“What set HMS apart was its ability to provide a single-source solution, because we didn’t want to work with multiple vendors, and the functionality of their EDIS was immediately attractive to our clinicians,” said David Cicero, chief executive officer of the 98-bed Ouachita County Medical Center, located in Camden, Ark. “In addition to the flexibility of their systems, HMS’ successful track record and expertise in supporting community hospitals solidified our trust in its proven technology and gave us comfort that we made the right decision.”

Ouachita County Medical Center’s team of clinical, IT, business and administrative staff selected HMS after a thorough review process involving several vendors. Cicero said only HMS offered a comprehensive system that extended into the emergency department with an easy-to-use EDIS. With HMS, Ouachita will increase efficiency by eliminating manually intensive processes while maximizing revenue with automatic charge capture and financial analysis tools.

“HMS is proud to provide innovative applications and services that improve our customers’ day-to-day operations while supporting their meaningful use goals,” said Tom Stephenson, president and chief executive officer of HMS. “We look forward to building our relationship with Ouachita County Medical Center and supporting their mission of providing the community with accessible, personal and quality healthcare in a safe and confidential environment.”
