HEUDEBOUVILLE, France--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety services to a wide range of industries around the world, announces its acquisition of Brussels-based RDC Environment, which specializes in environmental impact measurement, life cycle analysis (LCA), carbon footprinting, eco-labeling, greenhouse gas inventory and energy auditing for consumer products companies, and water and waste management projects for both private and public companies.
RDC Environment, established in 1992 and managed by Bernard de Caevel and Michael Ooms, has been a recognized leader in Europe for nearly 20 years, providing companies with environmental impact solutions for their products, raw materials or packaging. RDC Environment also carries out water footprint and environmental analysis for public authorities.
With the acquisition of RDC Environment, Intertek strengthens its presence and expertise in Europe to offer customers a unique expertise center combined with a global network, enabling collection and verification of environmental data worldwide.

RDC Environment has also developed an online life cycle analysis platform called Instant LCA that allows non-expert users to measure and compare environmental impacts of different products from the same category and directly collect the environmental information on their suppliers throughout the whole life cycle.
“This online platform is already being used by many customers to provide access to all critical data of a product life cycle. Using the Instant LCA software, customers can measure and see in one click the diverse environmental impacts of a product and create as many scenarios as needed to compare environmental impacts between products without having LCA expertise. The life cycle analysis is used more and more by our customers and we wanted to bring them a simple, user-friendly tool that is in compliance with the international standards for use in their business activities,” said Michael Ooms, RDC Environment.
This platform is also used for product green design (eco-design) or for automatic generation of the environmental labeling criteria in compliance with international standards as well as the ADEME-AFNOR platform’s requirements in France.
Intertek-RDC is strongly involved in many ADEME-AFNOR group workshops on environmental labeling in France, following ISO 14067.
