CENG Announces New Plant General Manager at Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant

BALTIMORE--()--Constellation Energy Nuclear Group, LLCSM (CENG) announced today that Chris Costanzo has been named Plant General Manager (PGM) at Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant in Lusby, MD. He will report to George Gellrich, site vice president, Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant. Costanzo’s primary responsibility will be the safe and reliable operation of the two nuclear power units at Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant. He will oversee day-to-day operations and maintenance of the site.

"We are very excited to have Chris join the Calvert Cliffs team and I look forward to working with him in his new role,” said Gellrich. “His strong leadership qualities, wealth of knowledge and nuclear experience will benefit Calvert Cliffs as we continue safe and reliable nuclear power generation and focus on driving continuous improvement in our operations.”

With more than 30 years of experience in the nuclear power industry, Costanzo joins CENG from Florida Power & Light Group (FPL), where he served as site vice president at Duane Arnold Energy Center located in Palo, Iowa. Previously, he served as PGM and Operations Manager at St. Lucie Nuclear Power Station, which, like Calvert Cliffs, is a combustion engineering facility. Costanzo also held several leadership positions in Operations, Integrated Work Management, Training, and Maintenance during 14 years with Exelon Corporation.

Prior to working at Exelon, he served in the United States Navy for nine years. He was licensed as a senior reactor operator at Peach Bottom Power Station in the mid 1990s.

CENG owns Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, located approximately 50 miles southeast of Washington, D.C. The station's two nuclear energy units can produce a total of more than 1,705 megawatts at full power — enough electricity to power more than 20 percent of homes and businesses in Maryland.
