MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--()--Nine weeks since its public launch, Gigwalk, the first on-demand mobile workforce, is announcing two new milestones including 110,000 new paid on-location “Gigs” ready for completion in eight metro areas nationwide by Gigwalk’s 50,000 workforce members. Additionally, Bing, Microsoft Corp’s Decision Engine, is joining Gigwalk’s growing roster of top-tier brands using an instant mobile workforce.

Gigwalk pays its iPhone powered workforce members to complete a variety of on-location tasks (called Gigs), using their iPhone to accurately capture real-time data such as verifying a street name, photographing a menu, reporting on red-light cameras, or confirming product placements in stores. Gigwalk is a free iPhone app that notifies Gigwalkers when a Gig is available in their area – eliminating the need to search for work.

The new Gigs pay between $4 and $7 and take about 20 minutes to complete, and Gigwalkers who cluster several Gigs together can easily earn $12 to $20 per hour. As Gigwalkers accurately complete Gigs, they build their reputation with Gigwalk Streetcred, allowing them to unlock higher paying Gigs that can pay upwards to $90.

“Since launching Gigwalk in May, we have rapidly grown into an on-demand mobile workforce of 50,000 iPhone users nationwide,” said Ariel Seidman, CEO and co-founder of Gigwalk. “With the addition of Bing, we have bolstered the volume of available Gigs – empowering our Gigwalkers to easily earn a second income while on their way to and from work or while exploring their neighborhood on the weekend.”

“By combining Gigwalk’s tech-savvy mobile force with our popular Photosynth app, we’re able to add immersive panoramas to Bing local search results, so people can accurately see the details of a business such as a store or restaurant,” said David Gedye, lead program manager of Bing Mobile. “Gigwalk’s network delivers high-quality results, often within 24 hours, and that’s hard to beat.”

Earlier this month, Gigwalk began rolling out more than 100,000 Gigs from a roster of A-list partners, including TomTom (the world’s leading supplier of navigational products), and MenuPages (the go-to destination for sourcing good food, prices and location) among others. The Gigs are available in eight major metros, including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Miami, and Seattle.

For Bing, Gigs use Microsoft’s Photosynth app, which offers a powerful set of tools for capturing and viewing the world in 3-D, letting Gigwalkers take 3-D and panoramic photos of retail stores and restaurants so they can be accurately represented in Bing Maps results.

For a self-described “Gigaholic,” the infusion of new Gigs is a home-run. Jennifer Silver, a Gigwalker in Boston, said, “I love the idea of making extra cash while walking home from work.” Last week, Silver was able to complete three Gigs in about 30 minutes. In total, Silver has been able to Gigwalk her way to a new iPhone – earning enough cash Gigwalking to cover the cost of the upgrade.
