VANCOUVER, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Office Ally announced today that its full suite of office support tools for healthcare providers is now compatible with all Apple products, including MAC computers and iPads. As a result, providers nationwide can now utilize both PCs and MACs to access any of Office Ally’s revenue-cycle management services including a practice management system, electronic health records, clearinghouse, patient portal and billing service.
“Given the number of products that we offer and the specificity that is required, this was a monumental task,” said Brian O’Neill, president and chief executive officer of Office Ally. “Every Web page had to be modified to support Apple compatibility, but we thought it was critically important that we be able to offer all providers access to our services, regardless of which platform they are using.”
While the majority of providers are on a PC platform, O’Neill said that many solo practices, psychiatrists and therapists utilize MACs. But since most of Office Ally’s competitors aren’t MAC compatible, these providers have been unable to leverage technology that would make their lives easier and their practices more efficient. “Our products are perfect for them,” said O’Neill, “especially when it comes to electronic health records, clearinghouse and our practice management capabilities.”
The practice management product – Practice Mate™ – creates and maintains patient demographics, insurance, appointments, and visit information and contains a complete accounts receivable section. It creates claims and submits them electronically, manages payments/deposits, creates and sends patient statements, and creates financial reports. Its appointment module allows for quick scheduling with unique search and viewing capabilities.
“All of this is provided free to the provider with no expensive hardware or software to purchase and no need to invest in expensive upgrades to take advantage of the latest program features,” said O’Neill.
So, too, Office Ally’s electronic health records (EHR) product can now be accessed through a MAC. EHR is a patient record in digital format that is capable of being shared confidentially and securely across different healthcare settings. Such records may include a full range of data in comprehensive or summary form including demographics, medical history, medication and allergies, immunization status, laboratory test results, radiology images, and billing information. With such a system physicians can receive discharge information on a hospitalized patient, view results of lab tests or other procedures, and recognize significant improvements in quality care and patient satisfaction.
“Providing this service in both a PC and MAC platform should remove any remaining barriers providers have to migrating from paper to electronic health records,” said O’Neill. “We make it possible for a practitioner to convert in a way that is cost sensible, simple to adopt and relatively hassle free. And when you combine that with the efficiencies that are gained, the arguments in favor of conversion are overwhelming.”
