NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--On July 13, 2011, at a meeting of the Board of Directors of Dreyfus Municipal Income, Inc. (NYX: DMF), the Board approved the appointment of Daniel A. Barton as co-primary portfolio manager for the Fund. Mr. Barton will co-manage the Fund with James Welch, the Fund’s current portfolio manager. The Dreyfus Corporation (“Dreyfus”) continues to be the investment adviser for the Fund.
Mr. Barton has been employed by Dreyfus since December 2009. He is a Senior Analyst for Tax-Sensitive Strategies at Standish Mellon Asset Management Company LLC (“Standish”), an affiliate of Dreyfus, specializing in education, airports, tobacco securitization, utilities and corporate backed bonds. Mr. Barton joined Standish in 2005 from Columbia Management Group, where he was a municipal credit analyst for over four years. Previously, he was a chemical engineer with Stone & Webster in Boston, MA. Mr. Barton earned an M.B.A. from Bentley College and a B.S. in chemical engineering from Rensselear Polytechnic Institute. He is a member of the Boston Security Analysts Society, the Boston Municipal Analysts Forum and the National Federation of Municipal Analysts, holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and has ten years of investment experience.
