SEOUL, South Korea & SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--IP Infusion, Inc., a leading provider of intelligent network software for enhanced IP services, today announced expanded operations in Korea to address critical telecom networking requirements for the transition to next-generation mobile, Carrier Ethernet, and cloud networking services. This expansion includes the appointment of Seongyoon Jo as head of Korean operations. IP Infusion is introducing its leading IPv4-to-IPv6 transition technology in Korea to enable telecom equipment and service providers to accelerate the transition to Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) while leveraging existing investments in Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) infrastructures. Moreover, IP Infusion brings its sensor-based networking solutions to take advantage of the growing smart energy networking capabilities in Korea.
Market forces, such as the introduction of popular consumer devices including smartphones and tablet computers, are fostering a wider deployment of IPv6. With the supply of IPv4 addresses completely exhausted as of mid-April 2011 in the Asia Pacific region, these new devices are assigned IPv6 addresses. As carriers throughout Asia Pacific build out their IPv6 cores, there is an increasing need to support both IPv4 and IPv6 devices on the same infrastructure. IP Infusion’s Rapid Deployment forwards IPv6 traffic through IPv4 networks and vice versa, and is based on the 6rd (IPv6 rapid deployment) and 4rd specifications published as a Request for Comments (RFC) by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). By deploying products built on IP Infusion’s embedded network communication software, Korean service providers can deploy state-of-the-art network technology to address the growing network capacity crunch, support the transition from IPv4-to-IPv6 and develop new revenue-generating services.
“As networks transition to IPv6, legacy support for IPv4 is crucial, and our innovative IP Infusion Rapid Deployment solution accelerates the transition for Korean network providers,” said Koichi Narasaki, president and CEO of IP Infusion. “More than 30 Korean networking equipment vendors use our routing and switching solutions to deliver high-quality routing and switching core network and access solutions. As the telecom infrastructure and advanced Internet environments in Korea continue to grow, we remain committed to helping our customers bring products to market faster, and to differentiate them from competitors with reduced cost.”
Smart meters are a critical component of the global drive to minimize energy consumption, and IP Infusion has core technology to serve as the platform for smart energy networking. With the introduction of its smart energy network technologies in Korea, IP Infusion will optimize data center energy consumption by enabling machine-to-machine communication for sensor networks and metering. These technologies will support IPv6 and will be compliant with IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) 6LoWPAN (IPv6 over Low Power Wireless Personal Area Networks), which enables IPv6 technologies to operate on wireless sensor networks.
“Our latest expansion extends our leadership in market segments across Korea,” said Seongyoon Jo, managing director, IP Infusion Korea Co., Ltd. “Moving forward, we will deliver sensor network solutions to support smart energy initiatives and support the smooth transition from IPv4 to IPv6 by providing our customers with IPv4 over IPv6 tunneling, IPv6 over IPv4 tunneling, and IPv4-to-IPv6 translation.”
Seongyoon Jo has more than 16 years experience developing new business in Korea, leading sales teams and creating long term business plans for companies in the optical and data networking, IPTV, VoIP and multimedia industries including Nortel, BigBand Networks and BroadSoft. Prior to joining IP Infusion, Mr. Jo developed new business models and successfully launched MPLS Transport Profile (MPLS-TP) for Metaswitch Networks.
