LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Saffron Digital, the leading global media delivery platform company, is delighted to announce that it has won Best TV & Video Service for its Media Hub service at the MEFFY awards last night.
Beating off competition from four other companies on the shortlist, Saffron Digital’s Media Hub was developed for Samsung and launched in Samsung’s Galaxy S smartphone series in September 2010. Media Hub enables users to browse, purchase, and download films and TV programmes, with 1,000 titles available in total from launch. The titles come from a variety of major movie and TV production studios.
Crucially, the Media Hub service holds users’ content in the cloud, where it can be accessed at anytime from multiple devices. Users can access their account and content anywhere, anytime.
"Media Hub has been an incredibly rewarding project to work on and we are thrilled with the end result. This ground-breaking cloud based rights platform enables Samsung's user base to watch their content wherever they are. This has been a huge hit with Media Hub users." says David McDonald, CEO of Saffron Digital.
"Saffron Digital's innovation and technology provides a viable alternative to iTunes allowing forward thinking companies, like Samsung, to challenge in a space everyone thought was closed".
The 2011 MEF awards, commonly known as the MEFFYs, were announced at a dinner held at the Grand Connaught Rooms, London, on July 7, 2011. Companies were nominated and shortlisted in 16 categories overall, covering games, social media, content delivery, TV and video.
