  • Biofuels Digest, BIO Discuss Findings of Summer 2011 Bioenergy Business Outlook Survey
    Tuesday, June 28, 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

    Biofuels Digest and BIO co-sponsor the quarterly Bioenergy Business Outlook Survey. As a result of this survey, Biofuels Digest, BIO and Novozymes will discuss the industry’s financial outlook for the coming year. Results from the Summer 2011 survey indicate continued optimism in new financing driven by continued demand for alternative fuels while projections for industry growth and hiring have tempered slightly from Spring 2011, as uncertainty over governmental support has increased.

  • The Shifting Policy Landscape and its Impact on Stem Cell Research

    World renowned experts will participate in a panel discussion on stem cell research at the BIO International Convention 2011.

    Moderator: Harvey Lodish, Ph.D., Chairman, Massachusetts Life Sciences Center Scientific Advisory Board, Member of the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research, and Professor of Biology and Professor of Bioengineering at MIT.

    Journalists can expect to hear from a panel comprised of former government leaders, scientists and a farmer who will offer insight on the political issues impacting agriculture production in the United States. Specially, speakers will discuss: Advancing America’s global competitiveness through science-based decision-making and investments in agricultural biotechnology innovations; Meeting farm productivity demands in the face of climate change and a rising global population; and encouraging next-generation products such as biotech wheat and examining the obstacles for future research and development.

  • BIO, BiotechCorp Announce Joint Hosting of BioMalaysia 2011, Pacific Rim Summit

    Dignitaries from Malaysia will join executives from BIO and the Malaysian Biotechnology Corporation (BiotechCorp) to announce the program for the joint BioMalaysia 2011 Conference & Exhibition/2011 Pacific Rim Summit on Industrial Biotechnology and Bioenergy, to be held Nov. 21-23, 2011 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in Malaysia.   • Unleashing the Promise of Biotechnology: Advancing American Innovation to Cure Disease and Save Lives” BIO’s Roadmap for Transformative Policy Changes

    The event will provide a summary of the Biotechnology Industry Organization’s (BIO) legislative and regulatory proposals aimed at reforming and improving the investment and regulatory environment for biotech innovation. The comprehensive set of policy proposals addresses two vital needs for ensuring a robust biotechnology industry in the future: 1) the need to re-engineer the economic model, and 2) the need to re-invent the idea-to-market pathway for biotech cures and other bio-based products.

  • Public Opinion Strategies and Hart Research Associates Joint Survey Results Reviewed
    Thursday, June 30, 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.

    The panel discussion will review the findings from a recent survey of American voters commissioned by the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) and conducted by nationally renowned opinion research firms Public Opinion Strategies and Hart Research Associates. The survey examined voter’s perceptions of biotechnology in comparison to other national priorities. A panel of biotechnology industry leaders will discuss the survey findings as well as the current opportunities and challenges’ facing the U.S. biotech industry as it strives to meet these priorities.
