DENVER--()--Matthew Sutton has joined AECOM and will become Chief Executive of the Environment business line, effective October 1, 2011, as current Chief Executive, Bob Weber transitions into a new role with AECOM’s global business lines. AECOM is a global leader in professional and technical management serving the energy, environmental, water, transportation, infrastructure and government markets.

Sutton joins AECOM from Arcadis, an international consultancy, design, engineering and management company, where he was executive vice president and director of operations and led the firm’s site evaluation / remediation and sediments business. Previously, Sutton was president and chief operating officer of LFR Inc., a global environmental consulting firm acquired by Arcadis in December 2008.

During his 28-year career, Sutton has held senior and executive management positions in operations and business development with Dames & Moore, Harding Lawson, and Groundwater Technology. Earlier he served as principal chemical engineer, director of engineering, and director of research and development and innovation with these leading environmental firms. With extensive experience in alternative delivery services and performance based contracting, he has worked with public and private sector clients, managing delivery of environmental services in the Americas, Asia, Europe and Africa.

“I am very pleased to join AECOM and lead this premier environmental organization going forward,” stated Matthew Sutton. “With today’s convergence of business accountability and stakeholder partnerships, the global sustainability movement, and unprecedented environmental challenges, AECOM is uniquely positioned to lead in innovative environmental management solutions.”

“Matthew combines the strategic environmental vision, business development expertise and operational leadership, to accelerate our positive momentum, and prepare us for FY12 and beyond,” said Bob Weber.

Weber, who will continue to lead the environment business line’s strategic and financial planning through the end of the fiscal year, will become a full-time member of the AECOM corporate global business team. He will develop strategies to grow revenue across all AECOM business lines, maintain strong ties to the environmental business and a focus on resource industries such as oil & gas and mining, as well as developing and emerging markets.

“These leadership changes are part of our ongoing approach to long-term growth, as set out in our Vision 2020 strategy,” said Fred Werner, Executive Vice President, Business Lines. “I am confident that both Matthew and Bob will excel in their new roles, as we work to create value for our clients, employees, stakeholders and the communities in which we live and work.”
