PHOENIX--()--Arizonans celebrating their first Fourth of July in 70 years with state-approved consumer fireworks will have six new fountains available for purchase from TNT. Varying in shape, price and performance, the debuting fireworks will be sold starting June 28 by numerous Arizona non-profit organizations raising funds for various causes that help their community and beyond.

“For cash-strapped non-profit groups going with TNT, this is especially important in order for them to reach, if not surpass, their fundraising goals even while we’re all still dealing with a sluggish economy,” said Ron Johnson, Phoenix-based general manager of American Promotional Events, the wholesale distributor of TNT Fireworks. “We’re confident that our 2011 selection and Arizonans excited to celebrate America’s birthday in a way they couldn’t for decades will prove that tradition is recession proof.”

With the Fourth of July falling on a Monday, making it a three-day weekend for many, Johnson said that, plus people likely staying home because of high gas prices, should help sales.

The debuting TNT fireworks includes Main Squeeze, which is both new to Arizona and a buy-one-get-one fountain, meaning customers will get two for $19.99 plus tax. Performance consists of showers of red, green, yellow and blue stars, golden needle, silvery crackle and snow pine. The fountain also features titanium crackle, silvery chrysanthemums and red and yellow calyx.

Appropriately shaped like a diamond, the baseball theme-labeled Big Dinger fountain ($10) features the colors of red, green, blue and yellow in flowers and snow pine, with a strong crackle finish. Radiant ($10) has red blobs, orange fish, white chrysanthemum and crackles. Colorful Rain ($5) features red, green and blue stars, silver rain and golden crackle. Carousel ($1.99) is an intro fountain with crackling silvery rain and chrysanthemum, while Artificial Rain ($1.99) emits a similar performance with the addition of yellow crackles.

Returning statewide favorites from last New Year’s selling season include Crackling Cactus ($2.99). “It makes sense that Arizona fell in love with a firework of that name,” Johnson mused about the fountain that emits gold, purple, red, green and blue stars with silver chrysanthemums and has crackle balls on the outside. Also back from nearly selling out in December are Pull String Grenade ($5), a combo smoke-novelty item cased in a plastic, realistic-looking grenade, and Crackling Thunder String ($7), considered the closest thing to actual firecrackers, which are prohibited in Arizona. It’s a minute of loud crackling noise and gold sparks with a voracious finish.
