BRUSSELS--()--Promontory, a premier global financial services consulting firm, has opened an office in Brussels, its 13th location worldwide.

With its new operation in the de facto capital of the European Union, Promontory is poised to provide an expanded range of services to financial companies across the continent. From the Brussels office, a former senior European insurance regulator, Alberto Corinti, will initially focus on advising insurance companies that are coming to grips with the European framework for prudential supervision and regulation known as Solvency II.

“Promontory Brussels will work in close concert with our worldwide teams to meet the growing demand among complex financial institutions to deliver strategies and solutions for regulatory requirements, corporate governance, risk, and compliance,” said Elizabeth McCaul, interim chief executive officer of Promontory Europe, which includes operations in Brussels, Milan, and Paris.

“The growth of our global network of offices mirrors Promontory’s ability to deliver expertise in all facets of financial services—banking, insurance, securities, brokerage, private equity, hedge funds, and much more,” said Eugene A. Ludwig, Promontory’s founder and chief executive officer. He noted that Mr. Corinti has been at the forefront of legislative initiatives in the European Union insurance market for several years. “Alberto possesses the depth of expertise and regulatory insight that has driven the success of Promontory Financial Group around the world,” said Mr. Ludwig, who served as U.S. Comptroller of the Currency, the regulator of national banks, under President Clinton.

Mr. Corinti joined Promontory earlier this year from the European Insurance and Reinsurance Federation (CEA) where he was deputy director general, with direct responsibility for prudential regulation and supervision under Solvency II.

Prior to the CEA, Mr. Corinti was Secretary General for the Committee of European Insurance and Occupational Pension Supervisors (CEIOPS, now EIOPA), the Committee of EU Supervisory Authorities that fosters and coordinates supervisory best practices in the European Union. Before that he spent 14 years in managerial roles in the Italian Insurance Supervisory Authority (ISVAP), where he was head of the international affairs and of the life actuarial department.

Promontory’s Brussels office is located at Business Club, Avenue Louise 475, 1050 Brussels, 4th Floor. The phone number is +32 2 669 0746.
