Emulex Participating in Industry InterOperability Events at the University of New Hampshire Interoperability Lab with OneConnect UCNAs

Test Events Focus on Successful Interoperability with Fibre Channel over Ethernet and iSCSI over Data Center Bridging

COSTA MESA, Calif.--()--Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX), the leader in converged networking solutions, today announced it is participating in two industry events that will focus on successful technology interoperability with emerging protocols such as Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) and iSCSI over Data Center Bridging (DCB). Both plugfests are held at the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Lab (UNH-IOL).

The FCoE plugfest was held last week, May 16 - 20, 2011, and was hosted by the Fibre Channel Industry Association (FCIA). Emulex OneConnect™ Universal Converged Network Adapters (UCNAs) were tested in a variety of configurations and across multiple platforms to showcase successful interoperability through FCoE devices and Ethernet switches from multiple vendors to native FCoE storage and across a Fibre Channel Storage Area Network (SAN) to Fibre Channel targets from multiple vendors. Emulex OneConnect UCNAs enable customers to efficiently consolidate their network and storage infrastructures, and include key advancements such as support for emerging industry standards such as Single Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV), which improves performance and offload support, and Emulex vEngineTM technology, which enables more CPUs per virtual machine (VM).

The third annual iSCSI over DCB interoperability test event is being held this week, May 23 - 27, 2011, and is hosted by the Data Center Bridging and iSCSI Consortia. The iSCSI over DCB interoperability test is designed to build cooperation within the iSCSI and DCB communities, and industry-wide interoperability using the iSCSI and DCB protocols. Emulex OneConnect 10Gb iSCSI Adapters will be tested in a variety of configurations for interoperability using the iSCSI and DCB protocols with multiple platforms. Emulex 10Gb iSCSI adapters consolidate traffic for networking and iSCSI storage and support protocol offloads for TCP/IP and iSCSI (with TCP Offload Engine) to provide maximum bandwidth with minimum use of CPU resources. For virtualized server deployments, OneConnect protocol offloads enable more VMs per server, providing greater cost savings and optimized return on investment.
