EnOcean Alliance Members Dimonoff and Leviton to Showcase Wireless Lighting Control Technologies at LIGHTFAIR

Live Demonstrations in EnOcean Alliance Booth #2345

LIGHTFAIR International 2011

SAN RAMON, Calif.--()--During LIGHTFAIR International (LFI), held this week May 17-19 in Philadelphia, EnOcean Alliance partners DimOnOff and Leviton will showcase their collaboration on the development of a bi-directional wireless interface that drastically simplifies the pairing of EnOcean sensor modules and LevNet RF relays. The EnOcean Alliance is a consortium of companies working to standardize and internationalize energy harvesting wireless technology for green intelligent buildings. DimOnOff will be providing a live demonstration of this remote management at the EnOcean Alliance booth (#2345).

DimOnOff, an innovative Quebec, Canada-based company, is focused on maximizing the performance and flexibility of its wireless lighting control and automation product line by simplifying installation and minimizing total cost of ownership. The realization of remote management, which involves both remote commissioning and control, further enhances wireless capabilities and creates new opportunities not previously possible with energy harvesting devices.

The DimOnOff-EnOcean bidirectional interface simplifies pairing between EnOcean sensor modules (including single and double rocker switches, lux sensors, motion sensors) and LevNet RF relays (such as WSS10-UZ and WSS10-GUZ) by requiring each unit to be recognized only once. Afterward, association between sensors and relays becomes completely virtual, therefore eliminating the requirement for numerous, and often complex, push-button pairing. Additionally, this novel method allows dynamic creation of groups for LevNet RF relays through local or off-site remote commissioning.

The DimOnOff software platform enables full control of the LevNet RF relays through a state-of-the-art graphical user interface that can accommodate multiple users, sites and platforms. Included in DimOnOff’s solution is a comprehensive scheduling system that enables and disables interaction between LevNet RF sensors and controls LevNet RF relays, based on rules and conditions. Bi-directional interfacing to any third party BACnet system using BACnet over IP is also supported.

There are numerous benefits associated with this virtual platform, including flexible and intelligent control, automation and monitoring for commercial, institutional and industrial applications. This solution, that represents a key element of the next generation for building energy management, can integrate daylight harvesting features, smart grid demand and response programs and web-based control and monitoring from computing devices and smart phones. In situations where long distances prevent a sensor from reaching a relay(s), the DimOnOff's bi-directional interface system can rely instead on the capabilities of DimOnOff’s multi-technology routing by utilizing power line or IP-based technologies.

By establishing enhanced functionality like remote management and TCP/IP interoperability with its wireless, battery-less enabled end-devices and their associated IP-based control systems, the EnOcean Alliance offers a complete building management solution for optimal energy and operational efficiency. Building owners and facility managers can now monitor, manage, and control these systems centrally and from any web-enabled device, from anywhere in the world.
