PLEASANTON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In cooperation with the Mann’s Packing expanded voluntary recall of veggie platters, including the Eating Right Veggie Party Platter, Safeway Inc. is also recalling the Eating Right Veggie Party Platter sold at all Safeway and Safeway-owned stores.
This recalled product was packaged by Mann’s Packing using grape tomatoes sourced from grower Six L’s that were recalled due to possible salmonella contamination.
The recall affects Eating Right Veggie Party Platter, UPC Code 79893-10708, sold from 04-29-2011 to 05-07-2011 with “Best if Used By” dates ranging from 05-09-2011 to 05-16 2011. This product was sold at all Safeway and Safeway-owned stores, including Vons, Pavilions, Dominick’s, Genuardi’s, Randalls, Tom Thumb, Carrs and Pak N’ Save stores. The Eating Right Veggie Party Platter is packaged in a clear, plastic, clamshell container.
No illnesses have been reported. Safeway is participating in this voluntary recall as a precautionary measure.
Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, and persons with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and/or abdominal pain.
