University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory Partners with Spirent to Test Network Protection Devices

Independent Government Accredited Lab to Use Spirent’s Avalanche™ for High Performance Security Testing

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--()--University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL), seeking to utilize the latest and most comprehensive tools for government certification testing, has announced it will use Spirent solution to address network protection device (NPD) testing. Testing with Spirent will enable UNH-IOL to ensure related NPDs meet necessary security requirements.

UNH-IOL, one of the industry's premier independent proving grounds for new technologies, will use Spirent Avalanche for multi-10Gbps capacity, security and performance testing. Spirent Avalanche provides the industry with an advanced high-throughput security test solution, with more than 10Gbps of encrypted traffic generation capabilities. The 1Gbps and 10Gbps Layer 4-7 multi-protocol solution also delivers the ability to test devices to their ultimate limits at line rate. The solution simulates daily business traffic, helping users to understand the impact under worst case scenarios of network faults and attacks. It is capable of multi-10Gbps of stateful application traffic generation while injecting attacks.

“UNH-IOL maintains a strong reputation for independent, vendor-neutral testing that offers an extension to a company’s in-house testing capabilities,” said Erica Johnson, director, UNH-IOL. “Our work with Spirent allows us to provide a means of testing critical infrastructure and equipment, allowing organizations to pre-test a variety of solutions and potentially save time and money during what can often be a complex process.”

Spirent Avalanche provides extensive testing for secure network communication, vulnerability assessment with around 7,000 attack profiles and user authentication including IPSec, SSL, 802.1x, Network Access Control (NAC) and RADIUS.

“As a long-standing provider of test solutions to UNH-IOL, this latest effort allows for the organization’s member companies to employ Spirent Avalanche to thoroughly assess equipment and understand if they meet government standards required for certification,” said Ankur Chadda, senior product marketing manager, Spirent. “This continues Spirent’s commitment of ensuring companies that work with UNH-IOL gain access to high-caliber interoperability, security and conformance testing applications.”
