PRINCETON, N.J. & LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ALK Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of navigation, routing, mileage and mapping solutions for consumers and the transportation/logistics industry, announced today that Barry J. Glick has joined the company as its Chief Executive Officer.
“We are very pleased to have Barry join ALK,” said Katherine Kornhauser, President of ALK Technologies. “We were looking for a CEO with a successful track record of leading fast growing technology companies. With his proven leadership experience in navigation and transportation, we know that Barry is the right person to guide ALK through its next growth phase.”
Dr. Alain Kornhauser, Founder of ALK Technologies, added, “For 32 years, ALK has been a pioneer in routing and digital mapping technology. ALK developed PC*MILER, the industry’s leading truck-specific mileage solutions and CoPilot, its innovative navigation applications for smartphones and in-cab telematics units. The future of ALK will be in great hands with Barry.”
“I’m delighted and excited to be joining the team at ALK. The great success of the company’s PC*MILER and CoPilot products has just scratched the surface of the opportunities for future growth,” said Glick. “With the company’s strong team and technology base, ALK will be able to expand its role in providing high-value solutions using integrated location technology for transportation, asset management, logistics, location-based services and navigation.”
“This is a market poised for enormous growth as real-time mobile location and computing technology is becoming integrated with back-office planning and management solutions,” Glick continued. “ALK is uniquely positioned in both areas giving it a huge opportunity to lead the way to cost and time savings, safety improvements and energy conservation for our customers and partners.”
Barry J. Glick has more than 25 years experience in the mapping, location technology and navigation industry. In 1994, he was the founding CEO of GeoSystems Global Corporation and led the company to its initial venture capital funding and the development of its breakthrough MapQuest.com consumer website, as well as its B2B successes with Fortune 500 companies. As a result of the company’s early success in Internet mapping, GeoSystems went public in 1999 and was acquired by AOL/Time Warner in 2000. Glick later became Chairman and CEO of Webraska Mobile Technologies, Inc. headquartered in France, and a pioneer in off-board navigation and location-based services. Webraska was later sold to Sanef, part of the abertis Group, the number one transport and telecom infrastructure management operator in Europe.
Glick then served as Vice President of Internet, Mobile and Media Products for NAVTEQ, a global provider of maps, traffic and location data enabling navigation, location-based services and mobile advertising. NAVTEQ was acquired by Nokia in 2008. In addition to his role at ALK, Glick serves as Chairman of smartRealm LLC, and as a Partner or Board Member at GeoCodex, LLC; Location, Inc.; Carillon Ventures, LLC; and Spatial Justice Resources, Inc. He holds a Ph.D. in Geography from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a Master’s degree from Cornell University.
