(NASDAQ: IDCC) proudly announced that Dr. Fatih Ozluturk, InterDigital® Fellow of Innovation, was honored at the company’s eleventh annual Chairman’s Awards on Saturday, April 16, 2011 for reaching the milestone of being named inventor on 150 issued United States patents. During this prestigious event, InterDigital recognized 140 innovators for being granted a patent or filing a patent application in 2010, publishing a technical white paper; or, contributing to significant innovations that strengthen the company’s performance or position in the market.
In recognition of Dr. Ozluturk’s accomplishments, InterDigital will make a donation of $15,000 to the electrical and computer engineering department at the UMass Amherst College of Engineering, his alma mater.

Based in InterDigital’s research and development facility in Melville, NY, Dr. Ozluturk is the company’s most prolific inventor. In addition to reaching the 150-patent mark during 2010, he received the company’s highest honor, the Chairman’s Award, in 2009 and the President’s Award four different times over the past decade. He is widely recognized for his prolific inventions, having been named “Outstanding Young Engineer” by the Long Island Chapter of the IEEE in 2001, an award that recognizes exceptional early-career accomplishments in developing wireless communications technology and leading advanced wireless research and development efforts.
Dr. Ozluturk began his career as a junior engineer at InterDigital in 1994 after earning his MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts in 1990 and a Ph.D. from the same university. He went on to earn an EMBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 2008. Today, Dr. Ozluturk's technical leadership and vision helps guide the company’s R&D and invention activities.
2010 marked another very productive year for InterDigital engineers who generated a large number of high quality core wireless technologies and inventions. Approximately 150 U.S. patents and approximately 1,200 non-U.S. patents were granted to InterDigital in 2010.
