Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center Turns To Central Logic ForeFront™ for Patient Flow Management

Regional Academic Medical Center Selects Industry-Leading Patient Flow Software Application To Move Healthcare Forward with Effective Patient Movements and Enhanced Care

SALT LAKE CITY--()--Central Logic, the healthcare industry’s leading provider of innovative patient flow software and consultative expertise, today announced that Richmond-based Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Medical Center, the only academic medical organization in the central region of the state, has chosen and installed Central Logic ForeFront™, the company’s flagship, Web-based patient flow software application, to effectively manage inbound patient movements and related documentation requirements at the state-of-the-art, 779-bed facility.

Part of the VCU Health System, and one of the top hospitals in the country according to U.S. News & World Report, VCU Medical Center will use Central Logic ForeFront in its patient transfer center, a strategic business function that efficiently orchestrates the movements of acute care patients, and enables hospitals to facilitate increased volumes of transfers more efficiently at lower costs. Financial terms of the purchase and installation were not disclosed.

“As is often the case with regional healthcare providers and academic medical organizations, many patients visit VCU Medical Center for sophisticated, cutting-edge treatment that is just not available in other geographical areas,” said Roberta D. Gump, director of the communications center at VCU Health System. “Since many of these acute-care admissions originate as transfers from other facilities, their movements must be handled quickly to ensure they receive the highest-quality and most appropriate medical attention possible, particularly in emergency situations. Not only is Central Logic ForeFront excellent in managing these processes swiftly and efficiently, but also it reduces the time-consuming administrative burdens placed on our physicians and nursing personnel. As a result, our medical staff members are able to exclusively focus on patient care and service, and our transfer center can accommodate more admissions with greater ease.”

“The many care, operational, and financial demands placed on hospitals and health system administrators today require definitive patient flow management strategies be put in place to address all of these challenges,” said Darin Vercillo, MD, co-founder and chief executive officer of Central Logic, and a practicing hospital physician. “Many academic medical organizations, such as VCU Medical Center, are making Central Logic ForeFront the centerpiece of these strategies because of the value and productivity it immediately delivers – not only to patient transfer centers, but also to entire multi-facility systems.”

Central Logic ForeFront is an easy-to-use, Web-based software application designed to streamline patient flow between medical facilities, and securely capture and deliver critical patient movement information to physicians and hospital administrators. Additionally, ForeFront gives hospital and medical staff the power to simultaneously and efficiently manage all types of patient flow, quickly correlate patient admissions, and facilitate swift, accurate decisions based on individual patient needs, doctor availability, and a facility or system’s bandwidth to accommodate new patients.
