SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CertiVox, a new information security company, today announced it has received £900,000 ($1,460,000) in Series A funding from Pentech Ventures, which led the round, and Octopus Investments, both based in the UK. The funds will be used to develop and bring to market CertiVox’s breakthrough key management infrastructure as a service (IaaS).
“We are excited by this endorsement of our company and technologies by two such well regarded investors, and look forward to their support and expertise as we continue to develop our security technologies and services for the cloud,” said Brian Spector, CEO at CertiVox. “Our breakthrough security technology is so easy to implement it effectively removes the barrier that has prevented enterprises and ISVs from fully embracing cloud-based services because of their concerns over protecting sensitive information.”
CertiVox also announced the appointment of Albert E. Sisto to the board of directors as executive chairman. Mr. Sisto has a long and distinguished career with more than 35 years of experience in the high-tech industry, including serving as chief operating officer for RSA and as chairman, president and CEO for Phoenix Technologies.
Also joining the board are Dr. Sandy McKinnon, a partner at Pentech Ventures and Mr. Bruce Leith, ex-managing director at London Bridge software.
“With CEO Brian Spector and executive chairman Al Sisto on board, CertiVox is being brought to market by a team that has an excellent track record in IT security and cryptography. Their technology, which has the potential to be disruptive in multi-billion dollar markets, could ultimately be a key component in helping people and companies secure their information in this new Facebook-sharing world,” said Dr. McKinnon. “Through our investment and hard work with the CertiVox management team, we hope to help create a company of real significance that could have a profound impact on the world of security software for the cloud.”
Luke Hakes of Octopus added, “We seek to partner with exceptional management teams who are running businesses with the potential to transform and dominate their industries. CertiVox is set to be a leading player in this fast-moving industry and we have the utmost confidence in Brian and the team to make a huge success of the business.”
