Cassidian Signs Corporate License Deal with RTI

Cassidian achieves significant development and maintenance cost savings for real-time, high-reliability distributed data-fusion and SIGINT systems developed with RTI Data Distribution Service

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--()--Real-Time Innovations (RTI), The Global Leader in DDS, today announced that it signed a global licensing and procurement agreement with Cassidian, the defence and security division of the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company N.V. (EADS). The agreement provides a framework for easy adoption of RTI middleware in future EADS programs.

Cassidian capitalizes on extensive skills in sensor technologies and takes part in various sensor-fusion programs, such as the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) Airborne Warning & Control System (AWACS) early-warning fleet and the similar Australian "Wedgetail" and Turkish "Peace Eagle" programs. The company is also a supplier to nationwide data-fusion networks for service-specific and joint tactical operations, as well as for Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) applications.

RTI delivers significant cost savings for Cassidian in both system development and maintenance. Because RTI’s Data Distribution Service for Real-Time Systems (DDS) middleware enables modular system architecture, agility in the integration process increases both at the system level and between independent development teams. This drives down the cost of large-scale systems-of-systems development.

RTI Data Distribution Service prevents occurrences of the “stovepipe system architecture” effect, which compounds the maintenance costs of many legacy systems. Open-standard, data-centric DDS messaging middleware provides a pluggable data-bus architecture that improves interoperability for systems-of-systems through the middleware’s agile integration technology, making it easier to build systems from independently developed components.

“We appreciate the trust that Cassidian and EADS place in RTI and our products,” said Stan Schneider, CEO of RTI. “We look forward to working together to advance the art and science of large-scale real-time system development.”

About RTI Data Distribution Service

RTI Data Distribution Service is the world's most widely used implementation of the Object Management Group (OMG) DDS specification. DDS is the leading messaging standard for integrating distributed real-time applications and systems-of-systems. By bringing the benefits of a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) to demanding mission-critical systems, DDS dramatically reduces the time and cost required for development, integration, testing, maintenance and upgrades.
