TWCableTV App Sees Overwhelming Demand

NEW YORK--()--Time Warner Cable’s new TWCableTV app for the iPad experienced high consumer demand on Tuesday, its first day of release, ranking as the most frequently downloaded free app in the App Store.

“We’re thrilled that our customers like the new app and now are able to enjoy television in any room in the house,” said Rob Marcus, President and COO of Time Warner Cable.

The new app’s popularity was so strong that it unfortunately overwhelmed the system, causing an inability for some customers to download it on Tuesday evening.

“We apologize that some of our customers who attempted to use the new TWCableTV™ app for the iPad™ were unable to do so last night,” Marcus said. “While we anticipated that the app would be popular, the demand was overwhelming. We are sorry for any frustration and inconvenience our customers experienced.”

TWC has temporarily reduced the number of channels available via the iPad app to 15, which helps to ease strain on the authentication process while we work on a permanent fix. The full complement of 30 channels will be restored as quickly as possible and more channels will be added in future iterations.

“We strive to provide an unparalleled customer experience and are hard at work to ensure that we can meet the demand,” Marcus added. “We want to thank our customers for their enthusiasm about the app and for their patience as we work through some growing pains."
