Rolls-Royce Taking Steps to Increase Competitiveness in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS--()--Rolls-Royce, the global power systems company, will consolidate some 2,500 non-production staff to an office campus formerly occupied by Eli Lilly and Company on South Meridian Street in Indianapolis. The company has reached agreement with Eli Lilly and Company, the City of Indianapolis, Develop Indy and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation and will begin relocating office staff from other locations in Greater Indianapolis later this year.

John J. Gallo, Executive Vice President, Business Operations for Rolls-Royce said, “We’re committed to creating a competitive environment for the future right here in Indianapolis, and this consolidation is a critical part of our efforts. Currently we have office staff spread across multiple locations. Bringing these employees together will improve collaboration and productivity as well as reduce our overall operating costs.”

The downtown campus features many modern amenities such as integrated technology, a cafeteria and food court, a fitness center and ample parking.

City of Indianapolis Mayor, Greg Ballard said, “Rolls-Royce’s decision to invest in Downtown Indianapolis will build upon our strong city center and demonstrates clear recognition of the vibrancy of the city’s core. This is a win for Downtown businesses and our economy, as Rolls-Royce employees will take advantage of nearby shops and restaurants and help support our new North of South development.”

“This is a great day for Rolls-Royce and our Indianapolis partners,” continued Gallo. “Rolls-Royce continues to invest in America and in Indiana.”

This consolidation affects Rolls-Royce office staff only. Production work will continue at the manufacturing centers in Indianapolis and efforts are underway to improve and modernize these facilities as well.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
