REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Abiquo, the leading Enterprise Cloud Management software company, today announced that it has hired Wendy Perilli as Vice President, Global Marketing. Perilli was formerly Director of Cloud Computing, Product Marketing with VMware, with key responsibility for the entrance of VMware (NASDAQ: VMW) into the Cloud space as well as the launch of VMware’s cloud computing initiative known as “Project Redwood,” which ultimately entered the market as VMware’s vCloud Director. She worked with leading service providers like AT&T (NYSE: T), Verizon (NYSE: VZ) and Terremark (NASDAQ: TMRK) on VMware cloud offerings including vCloud Express. Her extensive role included driving both business and go-to-market plans, messaging, positioning, analyst relations, partner alignment and acting as a key VMware spokesperson.
“Most technology trends are like a hot kettle on a cold stove - after a while they cool off. Cloud computing is more like a cold kettle on a hot stove - it has taken three whole years but now it is coming vigorously to a boil, and one of the master chefs helping that process along from a market-building and market-making side is Wendy Perilli,” said Jeremy Geelan, president & COO, Cloud Expo, Inc. “Wendy is certainly joining the right company in the right market sector at the right time. Abiquo is in the vanguard of next-gen cloud and virtualization management, and Wendy is at the forefront of cloud and virtualization marketing. It's a marriage made in heaven, and it is clearly going to be interesting to witness Abiquo's relentless journey to the next level in terms of size and market reach.”
Perilli will leverage her extensive cloud computing industry experience to further position Abiquo as the enterprise cloud management platform of choice. Her addition to the company adds to the growing number of prominent cloud computing industry executives joining Abiquo since its $10M funding round in November 2010 (see Leading Cloud Computing Industry Executives Flock to Join Abiquo, March 2011).
“We are delighted to have Wendy join as a key member of our executive team,” said Pete Malcolm, Abiquo CEO. “Her extensive experience in the cloud computing market will prove invaluable in rapidly expanding our go-to-market activities worldwide.”
“Based upon my experience, I’ve been on the forefront of cloud computing and deeply understand the needs of the market,” said Wendy Perilli, Abiquo Vice President of Global Marketing. “I also have taken note of the impressive sales and marketing momentum Abiquo has generated in a short period of time. This, coupled with its unique product offering, made it immediately clear to me that Abiquo has something very special that I want to be a part of and help take to the next level.”
In addition to VMware, Perilli has held senior roles at OpTier, Akimbi (acquired by VMware in 2007), Mercury Interactive, Allied Telesyn and 3Com.
