Clairvue Capital Partners Continues Its Expansion with the Hiring of John Waters as Associate

Need for recapitalizations of real estate funds drives firm’s growth; more hires planned

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Clairvue Capital Partners announced today that it has hired John Waters as an Associate, based in San Francisco. In that role, he will report to Clairvue’s founding partners, Jeffrey Giller and Brendan MacDonald, and will assist in executing new investments as well as the management of Clairvue’s investment portfolio.

Prior to joining Clairvue, Mr. Waters was an Acquisitions Associate at Starwood Capital Group, where he participated in the acquisition of over $1 billion of investments. Prior to Starwood, Mr. Waters was with Banc of America Securities, LLC in the Real Estate Investment Banking Group.

“This is an exciting time for Clairvue as we continue to grow our firm to meet the growing demand from real estate funds for fresh capital,” said Mr. MacDonald. “We are pleased to have John join our investment team, and we plan on adding more key hires to accommodate that growth.”

The addition of Mr. Waters falls on the heels of the recent opening of Clairvue’s New York office and the appointment of Jeffrey Granoff, a Principal, and Rachael Felker-Brittingham, an Asset Manager. Clairvue’s fund, Clairvue Capital Partners I, which closed in 2010 with $250 million of capital, committed approximately $100 million to investments in the second half of 2010. The firm expects to invest the balance of the fund in 2011, driven by a growing need for liquidity within real estate private equity funds and platforms.

A graduate of the University of Georgia, Mr. Waters holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in International Business and has a minor in French.
