POLYTEDA Unveils One-Shot DRC Processing and a Fine-Grain Physical Verification Technology Platform

Delivers unparalleled accuracy with fast and predictable DRC runtime performance

TORONTO--()--POLYTEDA Software Corp., provider of the most advanced physical verification technology for addressing the verification needs of deep sub-wavelength processes, today unveiled its One-Shot DRC processing to address design densities and process complexities of the nanoscale deep sub-wavelength process technologies of today and tomorrow. One-Shot DRC processing is different from hierarchical as well as from the traditional flat DRC processing. One-Shot takes all layers, and all rules associated with those layers, and processes them in one shot.

One-Shot DRC processing enables accurate processing of complex checks across what are considered hierarchical boundaries in other DRC tools. It is the key capability that differentiates POLYTEDA’s physical verification technology platform, Fine-Grain Physical VerificationTM (fgPV), from other verification technologies and enables accurate DRC with fast and uniquely “predictable” runtimes. The more objects to be processed, the better the performance advantage of One-Shot processing compared to the hierarchical DRC tools. One-Shot DRC engine and PWRL™ language processing make up the essential components of POLYTEDA’s new fgPV technology platform. PowerDRC™ and PowerLVS™ are POLYTEDA’s DRC and LVS products based on One-Shot processing and the FGPV technology platform. Unlike current DRC tools, which were developed in the 90s for deep sub-micron processes, the One-Shot DRC processing was developed for nanometer geometries of the deep sub-wavelength process technologies by leveraging developments in computer software, principles of physics, and many years of experience developing physical verification tools. The rule coding language, XactCheck, while it is easy to migrate existing rule decks, it is designed to be code the complex rules needed today. While the technology is applicable for any process node, it becomes a requirement for nodes below 40nm.

“One-Shot DRC processing and Fine-Grain Physical Verification technology platform, which are native to PowerDRC help deliver the required accuracy, unparalleled capacity scaling and runtime performance,” said Ravi Ravikumar, director of marketing at POLYTEDA. “For a given number of objects in a design, the architecture of One-Shot DRC is unique in producing predictable and almost linear runtime performance.”

POLYTEDA is actively working with foundries and early customers. Early customers have been using PowerDRC for a year and now POLYTEDA is actively engaged in delivering the One-Shot DRC-based fgPV technology platform on a worldwide basis. Customers are seeing accurate results with significant gains in performance and capacity at advanced sub-wavelength process nodes.
