2010 Academy Award® Winning Best Picture “The King’s Speech” Brilliantly Captured on Fujicolor ETERNA Vivid Film Stock

BURBANK, Calif.--()--For the third year in a row, the Academy Award® given by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for Best Picture went to a film that was captured on FUJIFILM color negative motion picture film. This year’s Best Picture winner at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards, “The King’s Speech,” was filmed on Fujicolor ETERNA Vivid film stocks (500T and 160T). In 2010, “The Hurt Locker” won Best Picture, and “Slumdog Millionaire” received the award in 2009. Both were shot on a wide range of FUJIFILM Eterna negative stocks.

Last year, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recognized Fujifilm with a Scientific and Technical Award for the development of Fujicolor ETERNA-RDI digital intermediate film, the first motion picture film in the world designed specifically for use in converting digital image data to negative film.

Since Fujifilm’s founding in 1934, its motion picture products have driven advances that established the company as a pre-eminent leader in the science of ultra-thin film coating technologies. The company’s photographic, graphic arts and medical imaging films, magnetic recording media, flat panel display materials, and photolithographic semiconductor coating technologies all share in this core technology heritage. Fujifilm has made continued advances in its film stocks, most notably through its popular Eterna line. In addition to numerous awards for technical merit, Fujifilm’s product performance has been acknowledged by leading cinematographers and directors of photography who have selected FUJIFILM stock for productions including “The Fighter,” “The Black Swan,” “Hereafter” and “Sideways.”

Fujifilm’s Motion Picture Division has offices in Burbank, California and New York City, and Toronto and Vancouver, Canada. For more information on FUJIFILM Motion Picture Film, please call 888-424-FUJI (3854) or email infomp@fujifilm.com.
