In its first edition, the exhibition and conference has dazzled attendees as it has attracted participants and visitors from several countries, in addition to 100 companies; which exhibited products and sustainable built services. This event is intended to support Qatar National vision 2030, and officials’ significant insistence to create a green heritage for the coming generation in Qatar and the region on equal footing.

Demonstrating Qatar’s commitment to building a sustainable environment, Green Building Solutions 2011 presented delegates and exhibitors with the opportunity to attend a Qatar Sustainability Assessment System (QSAS) Master Class Workshop to raise international awareness of QSAS, the first sustainable development rating system designed specifically for the unique Middle East environment.

As GBS prepares to expand into the Asian market in 2012, the Chairman & Managing Director of event organizer BQDRI Dr. Youssef Al-Horr expressed his delight with the success of GBS 2011:

“There is huge potential in the building sector when it comes to fighting climate change. GBS 2011 educated many local and regional contractors and construction companies that most of the costs associated with building emissions can be greatly reduced by new construction techniques. We welcome the challenge to extending this message throughout the GCC and other regions in the future.”
