Madison County Memorial Hospital Selects Healthland Electronic Health Records Solution to Help Meet Meaningful Use

Critical Access Hospital moves to Healthland for increased service and support offerings

MINNEAPOLIS--()--Healthland, America's market leader of healthcare information technology solutions for rural hospitals, today announced that Florida-based Madison County Memorial Hospital (MCMH) has purchased Healthland’s ONC-ATCB-certified Electronic Health Records (EHR) solution. MCMH is a 25-bed critical access hospital with one rural health clinic. Since 1937, the facility has served the Northern Florida community with skilled nursing care and services such as physical therapy, speech therapy, radiology, laboratory, dietary services, case management, activities and patient/family education.

“At Madison County Memorial Hospital our core values are compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence,” said David Abercrombie, MCMH CEO. “We use those values in the way we care for our patients and the way we work with all of our vendors and suppliers – and that was no different for Healthland. We went through an extensive search for a technology partner who could help us best serve our patients, quickly meet meaningful use, and provide the services and support we weren’t getting from our previous provider. We made the move to Healthland because of the organization’s longevity and commitment to the rural hospital market, its services and support offerings, and the single-patient-record that can be accessed across our hospital and clinic.”

In October 2010, Healthland launched a complete Meaningful Use EHR Program that includes:

  • Insight – Healthland has a cross-company Meaningful Use Task Force that provides news, information and resources from Healthland and partners with special expertise like Eide Bailly and McDermott Will & Emery.
  • Planning – Healthland has created and launched a Meaningful Use Assessment Process to help clients translate requirements into an action plan by analyzing gaps in readiness and identifying the products and services needed to achieve Meaningful Use.
  • Product – The certified Healthland Inpatient EHR solution delivers all the functionality and features required for Stage 1 Meaningful Use compliance, including Core Objectives, Menu Objectives, and Clinical Quality Measures.
  • Guidance – The services needed to help hospitals achieve meaningful use, including preparing staff, adjusting processes, and complying with all reporting requirements.
  • Financing – Healthland Financing provides clients with flexible financing options that bridge the financial gap between the purchase of the certified Healthland EHR and ARRA incentives.

Officials at MCMH say the functionality of the Healthland solution, visits to the organization’s corporate headquarters in Minneapolis, and seeing a solution live at a community hospital just like theirs, were key factors in the decision to implement Healthland’s EHR.

“At Healthland, we focus on meeting the needs of rural hospitals with technology that enables them to provide the best care for their communities today and in the years to come,” said Angie Franks, Healthland president and CEO. “Our certified EHR will help Madison County Memorial achieve meaningful use, deliver quality patient care, meet government requirements and begin receiving incentive payments in the short term – and position the healthcare provider for success and growth long term. We are pleased to add MCMH to our growing list of clients bringing quality healthcare to rural America.”

MCMH is currently implementing the Healthland EHR Solution. The healthcare provider expects to be live and achieving meaningful use by July 2011.
